Bhatbhateni Supermarket and Departmental Store Pvt. Ltd. and Renew Holdings Pvt. Ltd. have signed an agreement to produce 12.75 MW of solar power by utilising the rooftops and vacant space at Bhatbhateni supermarkets.
The agreement was signed by Sabitri Gurung, Director, Bhatbhateni Supermarket and Kiran Kumar Shrestha, Managing Director, Renew Holdings.
Renew Holdings aims to work in Nepal's renewable energy sector, focusing on solar, hydro, charging stations, and the latest renewable energy technologies. Bhattbhatteni has already established 27 supermarkets across the country and plans to set up 51 stores within the next five years, with a focus on using renewable energy in all its structures, the companies said in a statement.
“The agreement is expected to play a significant role in promoting the renewable energy sector and sustainable development in Nepal, while also reducing carbon emissions,” reads the statement. “Both Renew Holdings and Bhatbhateni Supermarket have expressed their commitment to continue collaboration and contribute to national energy goals in the future.”
