Commercial banks in Nepal reported a combined net profit of over Rs 22 billion in the first four months of the current fiscal year 2023/24. According to data from Nepal Rastra Bank, 20 commercial banks recorded a net profit of Rs 22.29 billion by mid-November, reflecting a 37.74 percent increase from the Rs 16.18 billion recorded by mid-October.
Among the 20 banks, the Agriculture Development Bank reported a loss of Rs 227.6 million by mid-November, while all other banks recorded profits. Nabil Bank achieved the highest net profit, earning Rs 2.69 billion by mid-November—a 30.85 percent increase compared to mid-October.
Global IME Bank ranked second, with a net profit of Rs 2.14 billion by mid-November, marking a 39.80 percent growth compared to mid-October.
In terms of percentage growth, Rastriya Banijya Bank showed the highest increase, with its profit surging by 265 percent. The bank's profit rose from Rs 151.3 million in mid-October to Rs 552.7 million by mid-November.
