Have you ever received a call from an unknown number or a message of enticement from any new email id? Do not trust the messages received from such phone numbers and email id. Such messages can make you homeless.
The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has cautioned the public against answering calls from unfamiliar numbers or responding to enticing emails from unknown senders, emphasizing the risks of falling victim to scams.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Raj Awasthi, spokesperson for the Cyber Bureau, advised everyone to remain vigilant and avoid trusting or responding to such communications. "Responding to suspicious calls or emails can lead to serious consequences, including financial losses," he warned.
SP Awasthi highlighted cases where individuals were deceived by fake emails claiming to be from high-ranking officials of Nepal Police, the Cyber Bureau, or related offices. He assured that investigations into such fraudulent activities are ongoing.
The Cyber Bureau has urged citizens to report any suspicious calls, messages, or emails to their nearest police station or contact the Bureau directly. Reports can be made via the phone numbers listed on the Bureau's official website, cyberbureau.nepalpolice.gov.np, or through email.
In a public notice, the Cyber Bureau also called for heightened awareness of such fraudulent activities, encouraging prompt reporting to help prevent further incidents. -- RSS
