The budget session of Nepal’s federal parliament is set to commence on Friday, April 25, at 1 PM, following a summons issued by President Ramchandra Paudel on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
This session, also known as the monsoon session, follows the prorogation of the winter session on March 31.
In line with the constitutional calendar, the Finance Minister will unveil the national budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26 on May 29. Ahead of that, the government’s new policies and programmes are scheduled to be presented on May 2, with pre-budget discussions expected to begin around May 11. By law, these discussions must occur at least 15 days prior to the budget announcement.
The session is also expected to focus on advancing key legislative priorities, including the long-pending Federal Civil Service Bill and the School Education Bill.
According to Eakram Giri, spokesperson for the Federal Parliament Secretariat, all necessary preparations have been completed to conduct the session smoothly.
