A fire that broke out at the Ministry of Water Supply on Saturday morning caused property damage estimated at Rs 5 million, according to a preliminary assessment.
The blaze damaged three rooms, including the office of Minister Pradeep Yadav, state-owned news agency, RSS, reported.
Items destroyed in the fire included two television sets, a desktop computer, and various pieces of furniture, said Ramakanta Duwadi, joint secretary at the ministry. He claimed that no official documents were damaged in the incident, which occurred on the fourth floor of the ministry’s building in Singha Durbar, Nepal’s administrative center.
The fire was reported at around 8:35 AM.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dinesh Ghimire of the Singha Durbar Security Battalion said the blaze was quickly brought under control with the help of a fire engine.
The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage are yet to be ascertained.
