Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has urged Nepalis working abroad to invest in Nepal, highlighting the country's significant economic potential.
Speaking at the first convention organized by Baglung Sewa Samaj, Qatar, in Doha on Friday to establish a multi-purpose revolving fund, Dhakal criticized the widespread notion that “nothing has happened in Nepal.” He said such negative narratives are misleading and unproductive.
“Many people spread false and negative messages, claiming there’s no future in Nepal. But if we work as hard at home as we do abroad, there is enormous potential here,” Dhakal said. He added that comparing Nepal unfavorably with other countries based solely on development and technology is not constructive.
Dhakal shared that the Nepal Development Company , with a capital of Rs 10 billion, has been established to encourage investment by Nepalis working overseas. He said the company aims to mobilize scattered capital from Nepalis at home and abroad into sectors such as hydropower, tourism, and industry.
He also thanked members of the Baglung community in Qatar for initiating the revolving fund as part of their social responsibility and announced a personal contribution of Rs 1.5 million to support the fund.
