The Government of Nepal is set to announce the "Tourism Decade" today, coinciding with the start of New Year 2025.
Speaking at the 26th anniversary celebration of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on New Year’s Eve, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Pandey, outlined the government’s plan to boost tourism. "Our nation is rich in diversity—spanning caste, language, religion, culture, and geography. It is essential to promote tourism while fostering unity, tolerance, and goodwill amid these diversities," the state-run national news agency RSS quoted Minister Pandey as saying.
The initiative aims to attract more international visitors to Nepal.
Minister Pandey also revealed plans to introduce a new tourism policy to drive the sector’s overall development. He emphasized the importance of operating NTB under a public-private partnership (PPP) model for better results.
Addressing aviation safety concerns, Minister Pandey assured that Nepal's airspace is secure and remains an asset in the civil aviation sector.
"Nepali skies are safe, and there is no cause for concern. We must spread this message globally," he affirmed. He highlighted Nepal's remote yet abundant tourist and religious destinations, which continue to draw foreign visitors.
