Stakeholders at a conference emphasized the potential of hydrogen energy to drive economic growth. Speaking at a conference titled "Discussion on the Commercialization of Hydrogen Energy in Nepal: Opportunities and Challenges," organized by the Nepal Energy Foundation, speakers expressed that Nepal could gain economically by exporting hydrogen energy as per the global clean energy demands.
Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital, chairperson of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, stated that Nepal can significantly contribute to this sector by utilizing subsidized loans and grants for clean energy. He also urged the effective implementation of the government’s hydrogen policy and highlighted the importance of showcasing Nepal's ability to generate hydrogen energy.
Meanwhile, a book authored by Krishna Adhikari, head of the Feature Section at Rastriya Samachar Samiti, was launched at the event. Titled Laghu Jalabidhyut Ra Digo Sanchalanko Abhyas (Micro Hydropower Projects and Sustainable Operation Practices), the 132-page book offers a comprehensive overview of Nepal's micro hydropower sector. It includes three sections, covering the status of micro hydropower projects, community-based approaches, policies, and provisions, as well as the potential of such projects. -- RSS
