Visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief Sarwat Jahan paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel on Monday, June 2, at the Ministry of Finance.
According to the state-run RSS news agency, the two discussed key economic matters, including the sixth review of the IMF’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) .
An IMF mission team is currently in Nepal to conduct the sixth review of the facility, which was approved in 2022 after the country faced a significant balance of payments deficit and a sharp drop in foreign exchange reserves.
Under the arrangement, Nepal secured an ECF worth USD 395.9 million—equivalent to 180 percent of the country’s Special Drawing Rights (SDR) quota. The loan is being disbursed in multiple tranches over a four-year period to support Nepal’s budget financing and broader economic stability.
