At the invitation of Nepal’s Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, India’s Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar is scheduled to arrive in Nepal for a two-day visit starting Tuesday, April 22. Khattar also holds the Housing & Urban Affairs portfolio.
During the visit, Minister Khattar will participate in the joint inauguration of several infrastructure projects under the India-supported Koshi Corridor initiative. These include the Inaruwa–Basantapur–Baneshwar–Tumlingtar 220 kV transmission line, the 220/133/33 kV Tumlingtar substation, the 220/33 kV Baneshwar substation, and the 220/133/33 kV Basantapur substation, according to a statement by Nepal's Energy Ministry. The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Tumlingtar substation in Sankhuwasabha district, which Minister Khadka represents in the Federal Parliament.
On the same day, Minister Khattar is also scheduled to visit the powerhouse and dam site of the Arun III Hydropower Project, a project undertaken by India. Additionally, he will attend a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint company tasked with constructing a new cross-border transmission line between Nepal and India.
On Wednesday, Khattar will visit the sacred Muktinath Temple in Mustang district, pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, and conclude his visit with a stop at the Pashupatinath Temple before returning to India.
