inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, has joined hands with the National Centre for Disaster Management (NCDM) to provide relief to the victims of floods and landslides in Nepal.
As part of this initiative, inDrive has donated $25,000 (around Rs 3.35 billion) to support the construction of five sustainable shelters for affected families and distribute essential supplies.
Building Safe and Sustainable Homes
The shelters are being built in collaboration with local communities to ensure they meet the specific needs of the victims. The shelters are located at Dhapcha village in Namobuddha Municipality-10 (2 houses); Roshi village, Panauti Municipality-12 ( two houses); Laskot village, Namobuddha Municipality (one house)
Innovative Construction for All-Season Comfort
Each shelter is constructed using bamboo and mud, ensuring durability and sustainability, inDrive said in a statement.
The two-bedroom house has a front verandah (porch), a combined living/dining/kitchen area, and a toilet.
“Maintenance of air gaps in walls and roofs for insulation will keep the temperature remaining above 11°C in winter and below 30°C in summer, ensuring year-round comfort,” the statement added.
Blanket Distribution for Families in Need
In addition to building shelters, inDrive has also provided blankets to Namobuddha Municipality-10 to distribute among the affected families.
“At inDrive, we believe in uplifting communities and providing sustainable solutions for those in need. We believe in making a positive impact in the communities we serve,” said Pavit Nanda Anand, APAC Communication Lead at inDrive. “This partnership with NCDM reflects our commitment to supporting disaster-affected families by giving them not just shelters but homes where they can rebuild their lives.”
Mark Tolley, Regional Director APAC, inDrive said, “inDrive, driven by its mission of challenging social injustice, the company is committed to having a positive impact on the lives of one billion people by 2030.”
