Tourists can now enjoy jeep safaris across five community forests in eastern Chitwan.
The Mrigakunj Forest Users Committee launched the service by connecting Khageri Rapti, Tikauli, Milijuli, Chitrasen, and Baghmara community forests with the Khorsor Protected Forest.
The 20-kilometer safari route begins at Khorsor Protected Forest and passes through Tikauli, offering tourists an opportunity to observe forests, wildlife, and biodiversity before reaching Bishajari Lake.
Inaugurating the service on Thursday, Minister for Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri said the government has adopted a policy to link forests, wildlife, and flora with tourism to improve the living standards of local communities.
Ratnanagar Municipality Mayor Prahlad Sapkota expressed his delight over the launch, noting that this is the first jeep safari in Ratnanagar—now established as the third tourist destination after Sauraha.
Earlier in the day, Minister Thakuri also released 15 female crocodiles into the Rapti River. -- RSS
