Karnali Yaks clinched their maiden victory in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) by defeating Chitwan Rhinos by six wickets on Friday, December 6.
The Yaks restricted the Rhinos to 130 runs and chased the target with one ball to spare, losing four wickets in the process.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan anchored the chase with a top score of 45 runs off 41 balls, hitting a six and four fours. Chadwick Walton added 30 runs, Dev Khanal 25, Zeeshan Maqsood 12, and Arjun Gharti 11, sealing the Yaks’ first win in three matches.
For the Rhinos, skipper Kushal Malla, Ravi Bopara, and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton each claimed a wicket, while Gharti was dismissed via a run-out.
Despite Ravi Bopara’s 59* off 40 balls and skipper Malla’s 23 off 27, batting contributions from the rest of the Rhinos lineup were minimal.
Bipin Sharma led the Yaks’ bowling attack with three wickets. Zeeshan Maqsood picked up two, while Nandan Yadav and captain Sompal Kami took one wicket each.
