The Koshi Provincial Government has postponed its planned investment summit to May, citing incomplete preparations.
A cabinet meeting held in Biratnagar on Thursday, January 9, decided to reschedule the event for May 1–2, 2025. The summit was initially slated for three days, starting January 24.
Rewati Raman Bhandari, Koshi's Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, stated that the delay was necessary due to insufficient time to finalize preparations, including project showcases, legal amendments, and procurement processes.
“Some of the required amendments to laws and policies require cooperation from the federal government, which further prompted the decision to postpone,” Bhandari explained.
The provincial government is targeting to secure approximately Rs 100 billion in investments through the summit. Several committees and a secretariat have already been established to ensure the event's success, Bhandari added.
