Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), the national flag carrier, has halted all domestic flight operations due to a lack of operational aircraft. The suspension follows the grounding of its only functional Twin Otter aircraft, leaving NAC without any aircraft for domestic services, according to the state-owned news agency RSS.
The corporation owns two Twin Otter aircraft for domestic operations. One has been out of service since May, and the second was recently grounded due to technical issues.
“Domestic flights have been suspended since Sunday due to technical problems,” NAC spokesperson Ramesh Paudel told RSS. He added that efforts are underway to resolve the issues and resume flight operations at the earliest.
Nepal Airlines operates domestic flights from Kathmandu and regional hub airports to remote areas. For international flights, the airline utilizes a fleet comprising two wide-body A330 and two narrow-body A320 aircrafts.
