Kathmandu police apprehended a man in possession of over Rs 200 million in cash from the Jhor area of Tokha Municipality-1 on Monday night.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Basnet, chief of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, he was arrested while transporting the money in a truck.
The arrested individual has been identified as Kusang Lama (43), a resident of Gokarneshwor Municipality-3, Kathmandu, originally from Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-1, Sindhupalchok.
Authorities recovered currency notes from multiple countries, including Nepali rupees, US dollars, and Euros. An investigation is underway for his involvement in the illegal transportation and trade of foreign currency.
