The Mechi Customs Office has reported revenue collection of Rs 12.94 billion in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, achieving 91.51% of its target for the period. The revenue was generated from the import of goods valued at Rs 38.88 billion, according to the state-owned RSS news agency.
Information Officer Ishwor Kumar Humagain said the office had aimed to collect Rs 14.14 billion by mid-May. He noted a marked improvement compared to the same period last fiscal year, during which the office had achieved only 76.85% of its revenue target.
A significant portion of the revenue–Rs 7.83 billion–came from the import of petroleum products. Other major sources included vegetables (Rs 583.3 million), vehicles and their spare parts (Rs 365.3 million), minerals (Rs 241 million), coffee (Rs 193.6 million), and lentils (Rs 202.9 million).
Additionally, the customs office collected Rs 198.9 million from exports worth Rs 21.45 billion during the same period.
