The weather across the country is expected to be generally cloudy to overcast today (Thursday).
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in several areas of all provinces due to active monsoon winds.
Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations within Koshi, Madhes, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, torrential downpour may occur in isolated areas of Koshi, Madhes, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, according to the MFD under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Cloudy conditions will persist across the country tonight, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms possible in Koshi, Bagmati, Madhes, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Heavy to torrential rainfall is likely in a few places in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, along with the possibility of storms in parts of the Tarai region.
The department has forecast light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in several locations across all provinces over the next 24 hours. It also warned of heavy rain in isolated areas and torrential rain in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The department has urged everyone to remain vigilant due to the risk of floods, landslides, and urban inundation, particularly in Tarai areas.
According to weather expert Binod Pokharel, rainfall is forecast until upcoming Dashain.
According to Pokharel, the current storm will produce a lot of rain in Nepal with moisture convergence from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
