Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has urged his Indian counterpart to finalize the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project (PMP) at the earliest.
In a meeting with Indian Union Minister for Jal Shakti, CR Patil, in New Delhi on Tuesday, Minister Khadka pressed for the swift completion of the DPR. The discussion covered a range of critical topics, including the timely implementation of the PMP, collaboration on disaster risk reduction, human resource development, and other mutual interests, according to Minister Khadka's Secretariat.
Minister Khadka is currently in New Delhi to attend the 7th International Solar Alliance Assembly. He expressed appreciation to the Government of India for completing the canal from Tanakpur in Nepal to the Indian border on schedule.
He also committed to convening a meeting of the joint committee on flood and disaster management between Nepal and India soon. Minister Patil responded positively to accelerating the DPR process for the PMP, a joint hydropower project planned along the Mahakali River, which borders Nepal and India. Officials from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi were also present during the meeting. -- RSS
