Passengers travelling to various international destinations on Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) flights were left stranded at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday, November 24, after the national flag carrier's pilots went on strike.
The pilots, including those appointed on contract, have been demanding that they should be provided with the same benefits as the permanent ones.
NAC’s Spokesperson Ramesh Paudel told NBA that the national flag carrier could not fly to three destinations – Delhi, Mumbai and Dubai – on Sunday. “The cancelled flights will be operated by Monday [November 25] morning,” said Paudel.
Earlier on Saturday, the NAC’s Kathmandu-Hong Kong flight was also disrupted.
Paudel mentioned that discussions were underway with the protesting pilots to resolve the issue at the earliest.
