The Ncell Foundation has announced an initiative to donate educational materials to students in community schools across rural and remote areas of the country for every 4 runs scored during the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which begins on Saturday.
"Cricket unites everyone. Through this initiative, we aim to positively impact the lives of students in underprivileged rural areas," said Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, head of Corporate Communication and CSR at Ncell.
Ncell said the distribution of educational materials will be carried out in collaboration with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), local authorities, and other stakeholders.
CAN has partnered with Ncell for the NPL, with Ncell and Siddhartha Bank serving as the "Powered By" sponsors of the league.
In a related development, Chitwan Rhinos, one of the eight franchise teams competing in the NPL, has announced free bus services for fans traveling from Chitwan to Kathmandu on match days.
Five buses will shuttle fans between Chitwan Medical College and the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, provided they hold a match ticket.
The Chitwan Rhinos will face the Kathmandu Gurkhas in their first match on December 2. -- RSS
