Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Head of Ncell’s Corporate Communications and CSR, has been honoured with the prestigious Women’s Tabloid Awards 2024 under the category of ‘Best Woman Sustainability Leader-Telecom’ by Women's Tabloid, a United Kingdom-based publication, that highlights the achievements, challenges, and contributions of women in various industries.
Issuing a statement on Friday, October 4, Ncell said that the award served as a tribute to Khadka’s extraordinary accomplishments and influences in the industry. The recognition was also a testament of the significant, impact-driven social initiatives that Ncell has championed over the years in areas such as health, education, environment, and disaster response and preparedness among others, Ncell said.
“This is the team Ncell’s consolidated efforts and our impact driven social efforts that have been recognised in the international forum,” the statement quotes Khadka. “With the launch of the Ncell Foundation, we are committed to continuing our journey of creating positive and lasting change in our communities via social initiatives, contributing to socio-economic development and supporting the government in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
According to Ncell, it has implemented over 100 projects across the country, impacting more than 13 million Nepalis directly and indirectly.
Key initiatives include the landscaping and greening of the 10.2 km-long Koteshwor-Kalanki stretch of the Ring Road, a Telemedicine and Health Informatics Programme in collaboration with Dhulikhel Hospital, the establishment of 60 high-tech IT Digital Labs in government schools, and the 18 for 18 social initiatives covering all provinces.
On the occasion of its 19th anniversary, Ncell announced the launch of the 19 for 19 project, in which the Ncell Foundation will carry out 19 social projects at the community level across all seven provinces.
“Since its inception, the company has contributed over Rs 2 billion to social projects and has received more than a dozen national and international awards for its contributions to socio-economic development through social projects,” the statement reads.
The Women’s Tabloid Awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of women across various professions and their impactful contributions worldwide, focusing primarily on women leaders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and women-led businesses.
