Nepal clinched its first gold medal at the International Open Karate Championship in India on Sunday, December 29.
Siddhartha Rana, a Nepali karateka, secured the gold medal for kata in the 10-year-old age category, as reported by the state-owned news agency, RSS.
The tournament in Pune, Maharashtra organised by the Indian National Karate Association, features over 100 athletes from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Final matches across various age and weight categories began on Sunday and are scheduled to continue through Monday.
A team of 18 karatekas is representing Nepal in the championship.
