Nepal Police is preparing to enforce a special security scheme for the upcoming festive season.
Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police, Tek Prasad Rai, has instructed the chiefs of all seven provincial police offices to implement a special security scheme in light of the upcoming festivals, the state-owned national news agency RSS reported.
AIG Rai, who currently oversees daily administrative affairs at the Nepal Police Headquarters, issued the directives during a virtual meeting with provincial police chiefs on Tuesday.
The provincial police chiefs have been directed to enforce security measures aimed at preventing crimes, collecting data on suspicious activities, and taking appropriate actions based on assessments.
AIG Rai also emphasized the importance of coordinating with relevant agencies to reduce the risk of road accidents during the festive season. He urged the police to launch awareness programs and intensify efforts to combat smuggling during the holidays.
“It is essential for the Nepal Police to enhance public services and build greater trust with citizens,” RSS quoted AIG Rai as saying.
According to police sources, thousands of police personnel, including plain-clothes policemen, will be deployed across the country for security during the festivals.
