Nepal welcomed 116,490 foreign tourists in April 2025, marking the highest number of international arrivals for the month in the country’s history.
According to data from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the April 2025 figure surpassed previous records–111,376 visitors in April 2024 and 109,399 in April 2019.

NTB said the surge in arrivals highlights a strong post-pandemic recovery in Nepal’s tourism sector. “This spike is a testament to Nepal's enduring appeal and vibrant tourism culture,” said NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi.

Nepal’s tourism industry suffered a severe blow during the COVID-19 pandemic, with international arrivals in April 2020 dropping to just 14 following the nationwide lockdown in March that year. Numbers gradually rebounded to 22,732 in April 2021, 61,589 in April 2022 and 98,773 in April 2023, according to the Nepal Tourism Statistics 2023 published by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Indian tourists made up the largest share of arrivals in April 2025, with 25,933 visitors. They were followed by tourists from the United States (10,053), China (9,037), and the United Kingdom (6,838).
In the first four months of 2025, Nepal has recorded a total of 415,048 international tourist arrivals.
