Nepali entrepreneurs are showcasing a wide range of products, including home furniture, kitchenware, gift items, sculptures, carpets, pashminas, felt products, and other handicrafts across 22 stalls at Ambiente 2025, which began in Germany last Friday.
Ambiente, the flagship event of Messe Frankfurt, is a globally renowned trade fair for products in the living, giving, and dining categories. The 2025 edition features entrepreneurs and business representatives from around 70 countries, including Nepal, and will conclude on Tuesday, February 11.
Messe Frankfurt has been hosting trade fairs in the city for centuries with Nepali businesses participating in Ambiente for more than four decades.
“Messe Frankfurt Nepal oversees Nepali participation without charging fees to companies, although participants must pay Messe Frankfurt Germany directly,” said Binod Malla, head of Messe Frankfurt Nepal, the official representative of Messe Frankfurt in the country.
Ambiente operates as a business-to-business (B2B) event, where producers present their goods to wholesale buyers rather than selling directly to consumers. With around 5,000 stalls, the fair serves as a critical hub for global trade and networking.
Malla emphasized the fair’s role in promoting Nepali exports. “Participating in prominent international trade fairs is essential to showcase products globally,” he told New Business Age last month. “With wholesale buyers from 170 countries attending, Ambiente provides an excellent platform to introduce Nepali products, art, and culture to the global market.”
Nepali products have historically garnered significant interest at Ambiente, boosting export demand. Malla also highlighted the need for government support, noting that countries like China and Bangladesh actively assist their entrepreneurs in participating in such global events. Entrepreneurs believe the Nepal government should adopt similar initiatives to foster export growth.
Notably, this year’s Nepali delegation includes approximately 30 percent women entrepreneurs, reflecting growing diversity in the country’s business landscape.
