The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped 0.93% or 24.76 points Thursday, June 19, closing at 2,628.91, extending losses from the previous days.
The benchmark index dropped 0.04% Wednesday and 0.14% Tuesday after edging up 0.01% Sunday and 0.1% Monday.
Daily turnover, however, exceeded Rs 11.23 billion, up from over Rs 9.08 billion the previous session. Earlier this week, daily turnover surpassed Rs 13.18 billion–the highest in more than three months– on Monday.
Over 29.4 million shares changed hands through 121,551 transactions on Thursday, compared to over 23.44 million shares and 121,551 transactions the day before.
Out of 248 traded companies, 47 advanced while 201 declined.
Among the major sub-indices, both the Sensitive Index and the Sensitive Float Index fell by 0.66%, while the Float Index recorded a decline of 0.79%.
Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Ltd (PMHPL) led gainers, rising 9.98% to Rs 370.50 per share.
Conversely, Pure Energy Ltd (PURE), which had hit the upper circuit on Wednesday, fell 10% to close at Rs1,086.52 per share. Rasuwa Gadhi Hydropower Company Ltd (RHPL) also hit the lower circuit limit, closing at Rs402.50.
Ngadi Group Power Ltd (NGPL) posted the highest turnover at Rs 854.45 million, followed by Butwal Power Company Ltd (BPCL) at Rs580.90 million and Singati Hydro Energy Ltd (SHEL) at Rs 479.11 million.
All 13 sectoral indices ended in negative territory. The Trading Index fell the most, (-2.47%), followed by Hydropower (-1.34%), Development Bank and Others (both -1.12%), and Manufacturing & Processing (-1.01%). The Mutual Fund Index dropped the least, (-0.26%).
NEPSE’s total market capitalization stood at Rs 4,379.90 billion at the end of the trading day.
