The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped 25.41 points on Sunday, January 12, ending at 2,609.67.
It had previously decreased by 18.14 points on Thursday, January 9. Before this, the NEPSE index had been on a six-day upward streak.
Last week, the index posted a total gain of 48.99 points , recovering from a 36.88 point-loss the previous week.
On the first trading day of this week, there was a notable decline in daily turnover, which reached only Rs 3.97 billion, a sharp drop from the Rs 7.30 billion recorded on the prior trading day.
A total of 8,021,631 shares were traded through 46,614 transactions.
All major indices saw losses, with the Sensitive Index, Float Index, and Sensitive Float Index declining by 1.01 percent, 0.93 percent, and 0.97 percent, respectively.
Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) reached the upper circuit limit, emerging as the top gainer of the day, while Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI) hit the lower circuit limit, becoming the biggest loser.
NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led in turnover, followed by Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU) and Singati Hydro Energy Limited (SHEL).
All 13 sector indices on NEPSE closed in the red, with the Finance Index experiencing the largest decline at 3.60%.
