The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 12.84 points to close at 2,676.15 on Monday, December 9. This marks a 3.6% decline in the past four trading days, including a dip of 45.93 points on Sunday.
Daily turnover also saw a significant drop on the second trading day of the week, amounting to just over Rs 5.62 billion, compared to around Rs 7.46 billion the previous day.
Over 11 million shares were traded in 62,758 transactions.
The Sensitive, Float, and Sensitive Float indices closed in red, with declines of 0.29 percent, 0.45 percent, and 0.34 percent, respectively.
Emerging Nepal Limited (ENL) led the gainers’ list, soaring by 8.76 percent, followed by Mahila Lagubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MLBSL) and 10.25% Citizens Bank Debenture 2086 (CIZBD86), which posted gains of 7.14 percent and 6.11 percent, respectively.
In contrast, Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMFBS) hit the lower circuit limit to become the biggest loser of the day.
In terms of turnover, NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led the market, followed by Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) and Joshi Hydropower Development Company Ltd (JOSHI).
Of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, only five ended in the green. The Manufacturing and Processing sub-index saw the largest gain of 1.06 percent, while the Life Insurance sub-index suffered the steepest loss of 1.67 percent.
