The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 0.11% (3.14 points) to close at 2,743.74 on Thursday, February 20, marking its fourth consecutive day of gains.
Thi week, the index surged 0.73% on Sunday, 1.1% on Monday, and 12.68 points on Tuesday. The market was closed on Wednesday due to a public holiday.
The growth this week follows a 0.79% decline last week, where the index fell on three out of five trading days.
However, trading volume decreased on the last trading day of the week, with daily turnover exceeding Rs 8.62 billion, compared to over Rs 10.43 billion in the previous session.
A total of over 15.5 million shares were traded across 86,223 transactions.
All three major indices closed in the red: Sensitive Index fell by 0.41%, Float Index by 0.07%, and Sensitive Float Index by 0.38%.
Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited (GMLI) was the top gainer of the day, with its share price rising by 9.99%, while Barahi Hydropower Public Limited (BHPL) suffered the largest loss, with a drop of 8.35%.
Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) recorded the highest turnover, followed by Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) and CEDB Holdings Limited (CHDC).
Among the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, only four closed in the green. The Trading Index posted the largest gain of 3.77%, while the Manufacturing and Processing Index recorded the steepest decline of 0.84%.
