The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 19.97 points on Monday, December 2, closing at 2,758.04 points. It had dropped by 9.99 points the previous day.
Last week, the index saw a decline of 68.35 points, reversing the previous week's gain of 68.60 points.
Along with the index, the daily turnover also increased on Monday, surpassing Rs 10.54 billion compared to Rs 8.83 billion on Sunday.
Over 23 million shares were traded through 103,481 transactions during the session.
While the Sensitive and Sensitive Float indices dropped by 0.31 percent and 0.32 percent, respectively, the Float index closed in the green with a 0.17 percent rise.
Three companies—Taragaon Regency Hotel Limited (TRH), Bishal Bazar Company Limited (BBC), and Khanikhola Hydropower Co. Ltd. (KKHC)—were the top gainers of the day, all hitting the upper circuit limit.
Joshi Hydropower Development Company Ltd (JOSHI) and Upper Syange Hydropower Limited (USHL) followed closely, with gains of 9.99 percent and 9.95 percent, respectively.
On the other hand, Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS) was the biggest loser, with its share price dropping by 8.72 percent.
In terms of turnover, Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS) topped the list, followed by Ngadi Group Power Ltd. (NGPL) and Janaki Finance Company Limited (JFL).
Of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, nine closed in the green. The Trading Index led in gains with an increase of 9.70 percent, while the Finance Index experienced the largest drop of 1.97 percent.
