The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged for the third consecutive trading day on Sunday, March 30, gaining 1.11% (29.82 points), to close at 2,693.12.
The index, approaching the 2,700 threshold, followed a 1.51% rise last Wednesday and a 1.58% increase last Thursday.
Last Tuesday, it dropped 58.05 points to fall below the 2,600-mark for the first time in over two months.
Along with the surge in the index, trading activity also saw an uptick on the first trading day of the week, with turnover surpassing Rs 7.56 billion, up from Rs 5.18 billion the previous day as over 15.5 million shares were traded across 76,354 transactions.
All major indices closed in the green, with the Sensitive Index rising by 0.89%, the Float Index gaining 1.11%, and the Sensitive Float Index increasing by 0.93%.
Joshi Hydropower Development Company Ltd (JOSHI) led the gainers with a 9.94% increase in its share price, while Prabhu Smart Fund (PRSF) saw the largest decline of 5.79%.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) topped the turnover chart, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) and NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN).
Of the 13 sectoral indices, only the Trading Index and Mutual Fund saw declines, dropping by 0.26% and 0.15%, respectively. In contrast, the Investment Index posted the day’s highest gain of 2.18%.
