Candidates contesting the upcoming by-election can file their nominations today, November 17, from 10 AM to 5 PM, according to the Election Commission.
The by-election, scheduled for December 1, will fill 44 vacant positions in local levels across the country. According to Joint-Secretary and Spokesperson for the Election Commission Nita Pokharel, nominations will be registered at the offices of election officers in the respective local levels.
The Election Commission will publish the list of candidates on the same day between 5 PM and 6 PM. The commission has completed preparations for the nomination process, setting up 32 offices for chief election officers and six additional offices for election officers in the concerned local levels.
Complaints against candidates, if any, can be filed on November 18 between 10 AM and 3 PM. The Commission will review and resolve complaints to finalize the candidate list, which will be published on November 19 between 5 PM and 6 PM.
Candidates who wish to withdraw their nominations can do so on November 20 from 9 AM to 1 PM. The final list of candidates will be published on the same day between 1 PM and 3 PM.
Election symbols will be assigned to the candidates on November 20 between 3 PM and 5 PM. The by-election will take place on December 1, with voting hours set from 7 AM to 5 PM, the Election Commission said. -- RSS
