The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Tuesday, December 17, that the winner of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) will take home a cash prize of Rs 11 million.
In a statement, CAN confirmed that the runner-up will be awarded Rs 5.1 million, while the teams finishing third and fourth will receive Rs 2.5 million and Rs 1.5 million, respectively.
The tournament, which kicked off on November 30, features eight teams competing in a round-robin format: Sudurpaschim Royals, Janakpur Bolts, Chitwan Rhinos, Karnali Yaks, Kathmandu Gurkhas, Biratnagar Kings, Pokhara Avengers, and Lumbini Lions. The top four teams—Royals, Bolts, Rhinos, and Yaks—have advanced to the playoffs, beginning Wednesday, December 18.
The playoff structure gives a strategic edge to the top two teams. The winner of the first qualifier will directly advance to the final, while the losing team will face the winner of the eliminator in a second qualifier scheduled for Thursday. The grand finale is set for Saturday, December 21.
On Wednesday morning, Chitwan and Karnali, ranked third and fourth respectively, will face off in the eliminator. Later in the day, top-ranked Sudurpaschim Royals will battle the second-placed Janakpur Bolts in the first qualifier.
