A recent study has shown that the number of high-net-worth individuals is increasing worldwide.
According to The Wealth Report 2025 , released by global wealth consultancy Knight Frank, the number of individuals with assets exceeding $10 million grew by 4.4 percent in 2024.
In 2023, the global count of high-net-worth individuals stood at 2,243,300, which increased to 2,341,378 in 2024. This figure is projected to surpass 2.5 million by 2028.
Although individuals with a net worth of at least $1 million are generally classified as high-net-worth individuals, Knight Frank considers only those with a minimum net worth of $10 million in this category.
North America Sees the Highest Growth
The number of high-net-worth individuals increased across all regions in 2024. North America recorded the highest growth rate at 5.2 percent, followed by Asia (5 percent), Africa (4.7 percent), Australia (3.9 percent), the Middle East (2.7 percent), South America (1.5 percent), and Europe (1.4 percent).
The United States Tops the List
The United States has the highest number of high-net-worth individuals, with 905,413 people—accounting for 38.7 percent of the global total. Mainland China follows with 471,634 such individuals.
Other countries with a significant number of high-net-worth individuals include Japan (122,119), India (85,698), and Germany (69,798), all with assets exceeding $10 million.
