A 113-member team of Chinese photographers arrived in Nepal on Monday, March 10, to document the country’s natural beauty and cultural riches.
The visit is part of the “Lens on Nepal: 100 Chinese Photographers Capturing Culture, Heritage, and Tourism” program, jointly organized by the Nepal-China Friendship Forum, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), and National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ) Nepal.
This initiative aligns with “Visit Nepal Year in China 2025”, a campaign announced by Nepal’s northern neighbor to promote tourism. It also commemorates the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations.
To mark the beginning of their photographic journey in Nepal, a special welcoming ceremony, featuring a musical performance by the group Sukarma, was held on Monday.
Speaking at the event, MP Urmila Majhi, NTB officials, and Dr. Kalyan Raj Sharma, coordinator of the Nepal-China Friendship Forum, emphasized the significance of this initiative to strengthen Nepal-China ties while enhancing Nepal’s visibility as a leading tourism destination on the global stage.
The team, comprising renowned Chinese photographers, will explore key tourist destinations, cultural landmarks, and historical sites across Nepal and showcase their findings to a global audience.
In addition to scenic and heritage sites, the photographers are set to document the colorful celebrations of Holi (Fagu Purnima) in various locations later this week, said Pradeep Raj Onta, President of NFPJ Nepal.
