Nepal welcomed 121,800 foreign tourists in March, 2025, up from 96,800 visitors in February. According to the latest data of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the number of visitors stood at 79,900 in January, accounting for a total of 298,000 visitors in the first three months of 2025.
The Nepal Tourism Board clarified that the figures represent only the visitors who entered Nepal by air.
The highest number of tourists visiting Nepal in March were from India. During the review month, a total of 21,412 Indian tourists visited Nepal. The figure does not represent those who visited Nepal through the open border.
Meanwhile, 11,443 tourists arrived in Nepal from China followed by 11,092 visitors from USA, 8,886 from Sri Lanka, and 5,995 from the UK, rounding up the top five contributors, according to the NTB.
Region-wise, a total of 35,287 tourists arrived in Nepal from the SAARC countries in March, accounting for 29% of the total tourists. Similarly, 31,351 (25.8%) tourists visited Nepal from other Asian countries in the review month followed by 25,468 (21.4%) visitors from Europe, 13,907 (11.4%) from the Americas, 4,643 (3.8%) from Ocenia, 2,732 (2.2%) from the Middle East, 368 (0.3%) from Africa and 7,657 (6.3%) tourists from other regions.
The NTB further said that the arrival of tourists in March 2025 was slightly lower than the corresponding month of last year, accounting for 95% of visitors compared to March 2024.
The data suggests 95.6 % recovery in comparison to the pre-pandemic arrivals in March 2019, NTB added.
