Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has assured that the maintenance of the Upper Tamakoshi hydropower project, partially damaged by the recent floods and landslides, will be carried out without any delay.
Minister Khadka made such a remark during an onsite onsite inspection of the damaged structure of the project by a team comprising Secretary at the Ministry of Water Resource and Irrigation Suresh Acharya, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising, Chief District Officer of Dolakha Tubraj Pokharel.
Following the inspection, Minister Khadka said the State has suffered a huge loss due to the damage incurred in the project and expressed the commitment to resume its operations.
According to his private secretariat, Minister Khadka reiterated the government's stance to provide all possible support to generate electricity from the project at the earliest possible date.
Chief executive officer of the project, Mohan Prasad Gautam said work is in progress to resume power generation within the next three weeks.

Tanahun Hydropower Project Sees above 50 Percent Progress
The Tanahun hydropower project with a capacity of 140 MW has achieved 58.1 percent progress.
The work on the hydropower project is being carried out in three packages. Project chief Shyamji Bhandari said that the project has achieved 52.07 percent financial progress. Likewise, 35 percent progress has been made in the construction of structures including dams under package-1, 59 percent progress in the construction of power plants under package-2 and 73.5 percent of the construction of transmission line under package-3.
The goal is to complete the project in the next two years.
The supply, installation and operation of hydromechanics and electromechanical equipment, as well as the construction of tunnels and powerhouses are underway, added Bhandari. Under package-3, the KEC International company of India is constructing a 220 kV double circuit transmission line from Damauli to Bharatpur in Chitwan. -- RSS
