Pokhara Avengers clinched a thrilling victory over Biratnagar Kings in a super over, securing two crucial points in the Nepal Premier League on Thursday, December 12.
Raymon Reifer’s exceptional all-round performance proved decisive for the Avengers.
In the super over, the Avengers set a challenging target of 19 runs, with Reifer smashing Sandeep Lamichhane for two sixes and a four. Reifer then bowled brilliantly, restricting the Kings to just 5 runs.
Earlier, the Avengers tied the match at 139, thanks to Reifer’s heroic last-ball six. Demonstrating his confidence, Reifer refused a single on the penultimate delivery to retain the strike and delivered under pressure.
Besides Reifer’s 34 off 23, other key contributions for the Avengers included Andries Gous’ 39 off 27, and skipper Kushal Bhurtel’s 31 off 34.
For the Kings, Pratis GC delivered an outstanding bowling performance, taking four wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs, while Chris Sole chipped in with two wickets.
Batting first, Biratnagar Kings posted 139 for the loss of seven wickets, with Scott Edwards top-scoring with 45 off 35 balls. Contributions also came from Lokesh Bam (26 off 16), Basir Ahamad (21 off 20), and Nicholas Kirton (19 off 16).
Raymon Reifer and Sagar Dhakal picked up two wickets each for the Avengers, while Kushal Bhurtel and Dinesh Kharel claimed one apiece.
Reifer was named Player of the Match for his all-round heroics.
With this victory, the Avengers climbed to sixth place in the standings with four points from five matches, while Biratnagar Kings remained at the bottom with two points from five matches.
