April 10: Diwakar Golchha, a prominent industrialist of Nepal, passed away on Tuesday night (April 9). He was 67.
According to his family sources, Golchha breathed his last while undergoing treatment in Chennai, India. It has been learnt that he died two weeks after undergoing kidney transplant in the South Indian state.
Diwakar Golchha, a former vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), is the elder brother of the current first vice-president of FNCCI, Shekhar Golchha. He was also a member of the first Constituent Assembly in 2008 representing the Nepali Congress under the proportional representation category.
One of the co-owners of Golchha Organisation, Diwakar Golchha is credited for expanding the organization established by his grandfather Ram Lal Golchha. Son of Hulas Chand Golchha, he will be remembered for his role is establishing Hulas brand of corrugated sheets, wires, food and sugar.
Diwakar’s body will be brought to Kathmandu Wednesday day while he will be cremated on Thursday, according to family sources.
He is survived by two sons.
