Public transport operators staged a protest in Kathmandu on Sunday, June 1, in response to new regulations issued by the Gandaki Provincial Government aimed at legalizing and regulating ride-hailing services.
The demonstrators argued that permitting private two-wheelers and four-wheelers to operate as public transport threatens their long-standing investments in the sector.
The protest follows a region-wide shutdown of public transportation services in Gandaki on Friday, May 30, as transport entrepreneurs voiced their opposition to the new policy framework.
