Most parts of the country are expected to experience overcast weather due to the partial influence of a western low-pressure system.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather remained cloudy on Sunday, with chances of light rain in hill areas and snowfall in mountainous regions on Monday.
Meteorologist Binu Maharjan told the state-run national news agency RSS that eastern parts of Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Madhes provinces witnessed more clouds, while Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces observed a mix of clouds and clear skies on Sunday.
On Monday, heavier cloud cover is likely, with light rain anticipated in the hill regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Meanwhile, climate expert Binod Pokharel reported ‘interesting weather’ on Sunday as continuous moisture from the Arabian Sea produced clouds all day in Nepal but no precipitation was reported.
According to Pokharel, who is an associate professor at the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology of Tribhuvan University, light precipitation is forecast for Monday and Tuesday mainly over the mid-hills and mountains.
According to a social media post of DHM, the pattern of rain and snowfall will shift to the central and eastern Nepal from the western parts of the country on Tuesday compared to Monday.
Meteorologist Saroj Pudasaini at the DHM said on social media update that the weather will gradually improve from Wednesday onwards.
