The second edition of the GlobeMeets B2B Networking Event provided a valuable platform to promote Nepal’s tourism industry, fostering business opportunities and partnerships with Turkish and international stakeholders. Nepal’s tourism potential, particularly in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, garnered significant attention during the event attended by over 1,000 travel agencies and key tourism players from 50 countries at the Rixos Tersane Hotel in Istanbul.
Pankaj Pradhananga, director of Four Seasons Travel and Tours and a representative of the private sector of Nepal at the event, emphasized the importance of the event in promoting Nepal as a destination. “We have received a strong response with numerous inquiries for Nepal. This event has opened doors for new opportunities, especially for MICE tourism from Turkey and Europe,” Pradhananga said.
Similarly, Monisha Gupta, director of Razdan Holidays, shared the positive responses from attendees, noting that the event had sparked genuine interest in visiting Nepal.
Jazeera Airways, which operates flights connecting Nepal and Istanbul via Kuwait, also contributed to promoting Nepal as a key destination. Sales Manager Arda Icil highlighted the event’s role in strengthening tourism ties, stating, "Nepal is a prime tourism destination, and this event will certainly boost our efforts in promoting it."
During the GlobeMeets event, held on 12th and 13th September 2024, Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism along with Istanbul’s governor, and TÜRSAB president praised the event’s role in fostering international tourism collaboration. The event also featured Destination Management Companies (DMCs), airlines, and tourism boards exploring new ventures for the upcoming year.
Chairman of GlobeMeets, Hüseyin Kurt, remarked on the growing importance of the event in shaping global tourism, noting that the event had tripled in size since its inception. The event concluded with a networking party at Istanbul’s Fişekhane cultural hub, leaving participants optimistic about tourism’s future in 2025.
With GlobeMeets emerging as a major force in global tourism networking, Nepal's active participation promises to enhance its tourism prospects, particularly through growing ties with Turkey and broader international markets.
