The Supreme Court has refused to grant interim orders on the writ petitions filed by Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya as well his predecessor Kulman Ghising.
A division bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityanand Pandey on Thursday refused to grant interim orders on the writ petitions filed by NEA Executive Director Shakya and and Ghising stating that the appointment of Ghising four years ago by removing Shakya was wrong.
The SC refused to issue interim orders after three days of continuous hearings. However, the apex court has given priority for the hearings, keeping in mind the seriousness of the issues raised in the dispute.
Ghising had filed a petition seeking his reinstatement after his recent removal as the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority by the government while Shakya had filed a writ seeking decision over the writ he filed four years ago when he was replaced by Ghising.
Skhaya is close to the incumbent government led by KP Sharma Oli while Ghising is associated to the Maoist Centre, the main opposition party.
