The Shaligram Museum, located in Kundule of Baglung Municipality-4, has recently emerged as an attractive religious destination. Home to an extraordinary collection of around 125,000 sacred Shaligram stones, the museum is drawing visitors from across Nepal and beyond.
Housed inside a 100-meter-long tunnel, the museum showcases a vast array of these revered stones, some weighing as much as 300 kilograms. Shaligrams, considered sacred by Hindus, are found along the riverbeds and banks of the Kali Gandaki River and are believed to bring prosperity when worshipped.
Rishi Prapannacharya, the museum's curator, said the site has become increasingly popular among Indian visitors, particularly from South India, in addition to a growing number of Nepali pilgrims.
So far in the fiscal year 2024/25, the museum has welcomed approximately 150,000 visitors—nearly 50,000 more than the same period last year.
Opened to the public just four years ago, the museum has become a key stop for pilgrims en route to Muktinath, another major spiritual destination in the region.
