Sichuan Airlines conducted a promotional flight from Pokhara International Airport to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Thursday.
An Airbus 319, carrying 126 passengers, including Gandaki Province's Minister for Industry and Tourism Mitra Lal Basyal, senior officials, tourism entrepreneurs, and media representatives, landed at TIA in the afternoon.
Earlier on Thursday morning, Sichuan Airlines operated a flight from Chengdu, China, to Pokhara with 129 passengers on board.
This marked the first operation of an Airbus at Pokhara International Airport.
During a press conference at TIA, Pradip Adhikari, director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, stated that there were no issues with landing or takeoff at Pokhara International Airport.
"The successful handling of the Airbus demonstrates the viability of such operations," he said, addressing concerns about the runway and the surrounding hills. He also called for private sector cooperation to ensure continued progress in aviation operations. -- RSS
