A delegation led by Sean Chiao, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore-based Surbana Jurong, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday, February 14, to discuss expanding the group’s investment in Nepal’s infrastructure and urban development.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, focused on exploring investment opportunities in Nepal’s energy, tourism, railway, tunnel-way, smart city, and expressway sectors, according to state-owned news agency RSS.
Surbana Jurong, owned by the Singaporean government, has already established its office in Nepal.
Prime Minister Oli assured the delegation of Nepal’s commitment to facilitating a conducive environment for investment, aligning with the country’s national aspirations of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali”. He also emphasized Singapore’s development achievements and expressed hope that Surbana Jurong’s expertise would contribute to Nepal’s progress.
The meeting was attended by Investment Board Nepal CEO Sushil Gyawali, Surbana Jurong COO and Chief Transformation Officer Ling Su Min, CPN (UML) Central Urban Development Department Chief Sher Bahadur Tamang, Surbana Jurong South Asia Chief Executive Avinash Misra, and Nepal Chief Bilas Koirala.
