Clashes erupted between security forces and protesters as they attempted to march toward Baneshwar, escalating tensions in the area.

The demonstration, led by Durga Prasai—Executive Director of Jhapa-based B & C Medical College, who has been embroiled in multiple controversies—has drawn a large crowd demanding the reinstatement of Nepal as a Hindu Kingdom.

Amid simultaneous protests by both pro-monarchy and pro-republican groups, security has been heightened across key locations in the Kathmandu Valley.

Supporters of the federal democratic republican system, led by the Socialist Front, are holding demonstrations at Pradarshani Marg, while monarchist groups have gathered in Tinkune.

The Socialist Front includes the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), and the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplab’-led Nepal Communist Party, among others.
