The first trial production of the Super Kabeli 'A' Hydropower Project in Sirijangha Rural Municipality, Taplejung district, has been successfully completed.
The trial of the 13.5 MW project on the Kabeli River began last Sunday, according to Meghnath Dhungana, Public Relations Officer of the project, as reported by RSS, the state-owned news agency.
With the successful trial, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) technicians have started preparations to connect the power generated by the project to the national transmission grid via NEA's 132 kV Amarpur Substation in Panchthar district. The connection is expected to be made after final inspections on Saturday, November 30, according to RSS.
The testing of the transmission line, which spans about 31 kilometers from the power house at Rate River in Yamphudin, Sirijangha-8, to the Amarpur Substation, has also been successful.
Snow Rivers Limited constructed the hydropower project at an estimated cost of NPR 2.63 billion, the RSS report says. The project is expected to significantly contribute to meeting the region's energy demand.
Kabeli Hydropower Company Limited is also constructing another 21.13 MW hydropower project in the same region.
