The federal, provincial, and local governments have agreed to coordinate with each other in implementing the National Urban Policy 2024 and the Solid Waste Management National Policy 2022.
A meeting of the Urban Development Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh on Sunday, decided to enhance cooperation among the three tiers of government. The meeting was attended by ministers from all seven provincial governments, mayors of municipalities, chairpersons of rural municipalities, the chairperson of the Kathmandu Valley Mayors' Forum, and senior officials from the Ministry of Urban Development.
Discussions focused on several legislative matters, including the Bill Related to the High-powered Bagmati Civilization Conservation and Development Committee, the Bill to Amend the Town Development Fund Act, 1996, and the Bill to Amend and Consolidate Urban Development Laws.
On the occasion, DPM Singh emphasized the need for stronger coordination and intergovernmental relations to reinforce federalism.
